They like us, they REALLY like us!
I liked the funny role reversal in the Wednesday book. I think it's charming and unique. As a teacher, I liked that it was a short and quick story that I'd be happy to follow up with another one. I especially liked how the illustrations in the
story features children of different racial/ ethnic backgrounds. I think that representation is so important in children's books. Great work! Chloe S.
5 out of 5 stars. I love all of them.
But, Friday is very exciting. A page turner.
I'm happy to see many different people included in the adventures and also fun to see Toronto.
These are wonderful books for all children. Colourful, adventurous, well written and the artwork is delightful. I recommend parents and grandparents get these wonderful books.
WELL DONE! Lynda P
Emma and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE each of the books — Monday to Friday!! Emma has already asked me many times if there will be a book about ‘the weekend’!!!
She remembers the details you secretly told her to look out for in each book. In the book ‘Friday’, she told me to watch out for something ‘pink and purple’. She was so happy to see the cake at the end of the story!!
I enjoy reading the books just as much as Emma enjoys going on the adventures with Lulu and Maxwell! Just when we think one day (one book) is our favourite story — we are amazed at the next one! Emma agrees, we can’t simply choose one as our favourite, each story is amazing! The stories are fun and silly, and full of adventure! Often as I’m reading the story Emma will ask, "what’s that?" (when she hears a new phrase like ‘inner space’) then the story seamlessly fulfils her curiosities. We love the characters and adventures, and love watching the stories unfold with the beautiful city of Toronto as the home base and background. It makes Emma feel so proud when she sees familiar landscapes in the illustrations! The artwork on each page is simply amazing and beautiful! We can’t get through one book without giggling and smiling a few times.
Thank you for creating such amazing characters (including Lulu’s doggie friends) and fun adventures that we can get lost in Toronto with. We are so happy to have added these books to our collection and we will enjoy reading them over and over again for years to come. I look forward to the day Emma can proudly read these stores to me and her younger cousins.
With much appreciation,
Lucy
This is my granddaughters first “big girl” book and it’s the perfect one to capture her attention with beautiful illustrations and endearing writing. Wednesday seems to be her favourite day of the week. Excellent use of Toronto landmark photographs as the backdrop for the motley crew of puppies on their adventures. The quality of this full collection is superior with thick brightly saturated illustration. The daily writing is consistent and familiar to children as they like to repeat one liners. This is great story telling and entertaining for both adults and children. Congratulations and thank you for bringing this lovely friendship into our home.

As an adult reading Lulu & Maxwell, I find the books fascinating. The content and illustrations are amazing. To see how illustrations and real background photos of Toronto are merged is ingenious. Nice to journey around our city in such a pictorial way with such a fun story line.

"My 6 year old daughter thought Lulu was silly, playful, and funny. and Maxwell was friendly, adventurous, and sneaky. "TUESDAY was a funny book.
The best part was when the security guard chased them.
I like all the adventures Lulu
goes on." The illustrations were wonderful." Anita. G.
"What a great adventure for WEDNESDAY. I love the real photos used for the background.
The costumes were hilarious. What else could you expect from
a switcheroo day ...but
a rock concert with dogs! Wish I could have attended that concert. The best adventure with Lulu and Maxwell so far. Not sure how you can top that! 5 STARS!"

"I read Lulu, Are You going to Sleep All Day? Monday. and Friday books. Lulu is a fun, smart, and energetic dog and Maxwell is a funny, creative,
and cool girl. Pets play an extraordinary role in ours lives, and pet owners have always wondered what their pets do when their owners are away. Monday tells that story with enthusiasm, humour, and imagination. It's a treat for readers of all ages. The Friday story introduces a diverse set of characters through the loving relationship between a dog and her human friend. This charming story will leave you smiling and wanting more. 5 STARS!" " Lisa, the Collection books arrived safely this
afternoon and
we couldn’t
be more thrilled.
Absolutely beautiful job.
The stories are wonderful and the illustrations
are fabulous." Ursula F.
My daughter really loved the book and series. Especially the pictures! She has taken it everywhere to share and read with other family members.
"Just received the collection (Monday-Friday) of L&M books. WOW!!! Kids and parents are going to love these books! Colourful figures jump off the pages and various Toronto backdrops/landmarks are amazing. Each book is jam packed full of educational tidbits and so much fun. Each character is beautifully illustrated and are eye candy for kids and adults alike.
Each adventure of Lulu and Maxwell makes you want to read more
about these two unique characters and their friends. I also love the fact
that the entire process of publishing the books is Truly Canadian from the author and illustrator to the printing, binding and everyone else involved.
The Collection of Five Books is a beautiful keepsake." Mary A.
"This week I've been reading the book to my 6 year old. We are fascinated with all the illustrations, the colours and the adventures. Some times during the day he asks about the places described in the book and he can't wait to visit the Aquarium! This is a beautiful master piece! Congratulations! We love Lulu and Maxwell. "

"A unique perspective on the day in the life of a dog in the city."
“Holy smokes. This is beautiful.”
“A fun read for children and adults alike. Great creative stories told from a dog’s hilarious, yet sensitive
point of view.”
This series takes the reader on a series of trips and also on a journey. The trips start and end in Toronto and introduces young readers to famous Toronto landmarks that they may know and will certainly want to visit. The journey takes the reader from familiar places to new and unfamiliar ones and finally to the intangible world of the imagination.
The illustrations are perfect for young readers. They used vibrant, attractive colours and they contained interesting details without being too busy. The more detailed images like the aquarium and the Imagine Nation were gorgeous. Lulu and Maxwell always find friendship, excitement, and lots of laughs along the way.
I enjoyed these stories very much and would
definitely recommend them to parents. Anne D.
“I loved the relationship between
Lulu and Maxwell.”
“I recently read a series of books in which a cute dog named Lulu goes on a fun adventure each day with her friend, Maxwell. The illustrations bring the story to life. Perfect for read alouds. The author has captured our city in the adventures and makes it easy for us Torontonians to make connections to places and people from diverse backgrounds. When you read the first one, you definitely want to know what happens the next day!”
“Wow! What a stunning book.”
“The illustrations are fun, vibrant, appealing, and imaginative.”
I loved the Tuesday story where Lulu hangs out at the Really Old Stuff museum with Maxwell and her real life friends. The nicknames are hilarious. The characters really pop against the black and white backgrounds. So creative!
I can't wait to see what happens on Switcheroo Wednesday!
"So Great! I love it. I'm an adult and even I was hooked."
“I liked that some
of the story (start and end) were similar in each book. Made a
good connection
to each day and
I imagine the repetitiveness
is great for children.
They can feel like
they are a part of it.”
“A fun, easy read
children’s book that
adults will get a kick
out of. If you love
pets and adventure
this is for you. Lots
of references to
Toronto and Canada.”
“The detailed images were gorgeous.”
“Oh my goodness. They’re so cute.
You guys hit it out of the park. Congrats.”
“This series introduces readers to the many fabulous venues that Toronto has to offer. This is one feature that makes it stand out from other’s children’s books.”
Lulu arrived today. It is lovely. You are very talented. I read some to the kids before nap today. They are at an age where the pictures are the best part. I love it. Please let Lisa know that it was a big hit. We will share on our daycare page and with friends. Thanks again.
I just read the series, Lulu, Are You Going to Sleep All Day? Monday to Friday. I would for sure recommend these books to parents and kids. Lulu is a dog who is loveable, adventurous, and full of life. Her friend, Maxwell is caring, affable, audacious, and free spirited. I really love the relationship between Lulu and Maxwell and enjoy the idea of humans and dogs being best friends. The books were an easy and interesting read.
I relished the idea that everyday can be an adventure.
In the Friday book, I loved the concept of going into a world where anything you want can happen. I loved this feel good book. This book will teach kids to imagine and to create a fun life for themselves. Kids will absolutely enjoy these books due to the wonderful illustrations and characters. The size of the books are are just perfect. Gurjeet K.
I read the Lulu, Are You Going to Sleep All Day? Monday book. It's a fun and silly story about a dog, Lulu and her friend, Maxwell and interesting adventures they go on together.
I liked the part when Lulu fell into the water at the aquarium, the security guard came and Lulu pretended to be a statue. Delightful! Diane
Thanks for giving us this wonderful book.
(MONDAY) Lulu is an adventurous, funny,
and loving dog and Maxwell is an imaginative,
devoted, and adventurous girl. I loved the story.
The best part was Lulu and Maxwell's adventure at
the aquarium. I'm interested in reading the rest of
the series and would recommend it to others. Fani D.
Absolutely stunning book!
The illustrations are fantastic and the stories are wonderfully imaginative.
Sure to be a winner! Josie G.
We just read MONDAY and TUESDAY.
My daughter LOVES the books!
She wants to read them all today. LOL.
She laughs out loud and is eager to
turn the page. Great books!! Two thumbs up.
The Thursday book is a fun way for kids to explore another country. My son loves the kangaroos and illustrations in this story. The little lesson on weather and the climates of different countries is great for educators and parents to use as a learning tool. The Friday book does a great job of exploring abstract themes in an open, light hearted way.
The surreal illustrations spark inspiration and the characters that Lulu and Maxwell meet are friendly and inviting. What a beautiful tribute! Lonela
Thank you, Lisa for a story that made me laugh and took me a cross a city I live in and am familiar with. It was nice to recognize downtown Toronto and visit the aquarium with Lulu and Maxwell.
The back cover makes you wonder why Lulu is scuba diving. My favourite part is when Lulu's costume falls off and the kids see her dog paddling. The colourful illustrations give the story a unique identity. As I read the story, I was able to see myself going on an adventure, too.
I now know what my pet does when I'm away at work! I would definitely recommend this book to people with young kids. Jaspreet D.
“Lulu is cute,
silly, funny,
and adventurous.” Maxwell is fun loving, free spirited, confident, and adventurous.”
The WEDNESDAY book is a throw back for adults and a nice visual for children. We love the use of real photography in conjunction with the illustrations. Although the kids may not get the musical references, adults will definitely enjoy them while reading this book to their kids. Who doesn't love pups that can rock a tune? This book does a great job of bringing us downtown without having to wait for the TTC. Daniella
"I very much enjoyed the text and illustrations of this fun happy book. The Canadarm is super fun and clever but I enjoyed it all and their whole adventure!
I so love Lulu and Maxwell’s love for each other! The book is pure joy and happiness. The world needs more of that! Yay for LULU AND MAXWELL!" Michele V.
